gardening art and a blessing from the red tent.

This picture seems timely!
Its a journal entry from somewhere in 2007.
Almost passed timely I guess because apparently tomorrow I have to rip out the garden
to save the goods from frost...

This beautyful blessing from a beautyful book called the Red Tent by Anita Diamant:

If you haven't read it, get off the computer right now and go find it.
Especially if you are a woman.

Cross Canada trip 2008

Here's a little story to go with a couple journal entries.
I sure wished there were more journal entries like these along the way,
but I guess I was just taking it all in.
We drove from Chilliwack, BC to PEI
almost 6,000 kms!
it was fun!

Steve had cut off his dreads a bit before and decided to leave one in each province along the way!
That's what that little picture of the river is about.
Then we stopped and wwoofed a bit at a farm I go to from time to time.

I made this map of Eastern Canada to figure out this country AND
to make Ontario not seem SOOooo long.

Cuz its basically the size of 3 regular Canadian Provinces.

this was taken in Osoyoos, BC - in the Okanagan.
One of 2 Canadian towns with 4 "O"'s in it.
The other being Oromocto, NB which was our destination.

The strawbale house at the wwoof farm in Greenwood, BC
(they still graciously take wwoofers if you are ever on the #3 in South BC!)

 Falcon Lake, MB
Just starting to turn in to Boreal

Lake Superior from the Terry fox Statue

What an amazing person he was.

Earth floor beauty, Somewhere in Northern Ontario.

We made it to PEI!!  This is Cavendish Beach.
What a Beautyful place.

 Picnic lunch in Charlottetown, PEI.
We had a food suitcase for a picnic set!

Our pups were with us for part of the way!

Us, Before children!!
It was a fun trip.

The squashed plant on the left is Twin flower
my very favorite plant in the wild.

This is what I have decided to name my li'l buisness.

I recently made the final logo.
it's at the printers getting made into stickers!

I don't know about you, but the following post represents how I feel about 40-70% of the time.
I feel like I am going through a transformation of sorts right now.
Turning into the kind of person I want to be!
Finding new creative outlets.
Feeling strong.
(for today...)

Doodleations.

did the dream come true?

This is a hopeful dream journal entry from about 7 years ago...
6 years later, we finally had our home, with a big back yard, but no land yet! Its still in the goal book.

however, the second arrow, learning tricks thru wwoofing
yes. I have. and for that, my garden and soul are thankful!

I was single then, and starting to really want a partner in this world, and kiddos.

This was ripped out of somewhere and given to my by my friend, Hope.
what a lovely verse!

I am really happy with what I have today.

... but soon, that happiness will be realized by a hot woodstove in this room where I type, and a solar panel on the roof...
is my next hope!

Forgiveness boot

refrigerator pickles

This recipe is from my great auntie Bernie.  She loves to create things.  from the kitchen to the knitting needles to the rug hoop! (her husband tells her to stop making rugs, they have too many, but she refuses!)  I wish I could just know all she knows.  These days, she is loosing control of her body to Parkinsons, but I still find her at her sewing machine when I go to visit! She also makes sure I leave with a huge box of yarn, half finished quilts, kitchen utensils... whatever she has ready to give me!  Sweet folks. They live on my great grandfather's original homestead!

They're really yummy pickles. You don't have to worry about sterilizing jars and having them seal properly, instead you need to worry about having room in your fridge!

This year, I put them in quart mason jars cuz an ice cream pail just takes up too much space!

art in old journal entries

Last night I took out all my old journals and began reading.
I have been journaling regularly for the last 15 yrs.  A lot of this is a time in my life where I was traveling and learning.  Finding out who I was in the way that was right for me.

My journals are mixed media art.  There are all kinds of papers, poems, photos and art (by me and a lot of other people) pasted or taped on to the pages.
there's  paint, pencil crayon, marker everywhere making it colorful.
There's envelopes with keepsakes and photos in them...
Most of them are home made journals from recycled paper and record covers.

I am so glad i had done this to the point where I have wanted to publish them somehow. Exactly as they are, with things popping out each page!

So, weekly, I am going to share little bits and bites from my past!     Mostly Art, quotes, and the odd journal entry.    It is probably as close to publishing as i am going to get!

Here's my first clipping.
Its from 2005, when I was taking a carpentry pre-employment course and brainstorming of projects to build in class:

The tea shelf made it to real life (as a spice rack)...
